How much can I earn?

What's the revenue split?

How do classes work technically?

Classes are conducted via LiveKit, a high-quality video conferencing system built into the platform. You and your students join a virtual classroom with video, audio, screen sharing, and a chat sidebar. No additional software downloads are needed -- everything runs in the browser.

What if a student doesn't show up?

Students pay when they register for a class. If a student doesn't show up, you still receive your share of the payment for that registration. Students may request a credit for future classes from our support team, but this doesn't affect your earnings.

When do I get paid?

Teacher earnings are paid out monthly, within the first 5 business days of each month for the previous month's classes. You can choose to receive payments via PayPal or bank transfer. Your earnings dashboard shows real-time totals so you always know exactly how much you've earned.

Can I teach multiple languages?

Absolutely! If you're fluent in multiple languages, you can create class listings for each one. Many of our top teachers offer classes in 2-3 languages, which increases their reach and earning potential. Just select all applicable languages during your application.

What is a Literacy Specialist?

Literacy Specialists teach adults to read and write — in any language. This is different from language teaching: your students may speak the language but can't read or write it. You'll use Ricki's voice-guided literacy curriculum (letter recognition, syllables, real-world reading) alongside your own expertise. Literacy specialists get the same great 85% cut as all teachers on the platform. You can apply as a Literacy Specialist even if you also teach languages.

What equipment do I need?

You need a computer or laptop with a webcam, a microphone (built-in or external), a stable internet connection (at least 10 Mbps upload), and a quiet teaching space with good lighting. A headset is recommended for better audio quality. No special software is required.

How do students find my classes?

Ricki's AI does this for you. When students sign up and set their learning goals, our matching system recommends you based on language, level, timezone, and specialty. Students also browse the teacher directory where they can filter by Language or Literacy specialty. We send push notifications to matched students when you have open slots. Most teachers see a 90%+ calendar fill rate within 2 weeks.
